3rd January 2021                                                                                                                                                                                                      In view of the Watford Friendly League decision to cancel matches on Sundays 10th and 17th January, Whetstone Wanderers Committee had a virtual meeting today and we have reluctantly made the decision that we will be cancelling all training up to and including Sunday 17th January and we will review things again before this date.                                                                                                                                                                                                                         We are also requesting that our teams do not arrange friendlies as anyone injured in these will not be insured due to the club's decision to suspend activity. There are a few factors that have driven us towards this decision. Some of our training facilities have already advised us that they will be closed while Schools are not open - Woodhouse, Trent Park and Snakes Lane and we expect the same from Christ College tomorrow. This means some teams would have facilities and some not.                                                                                                                                                                                              If someone gets severely injured during training or at a friendly match it is extremely unlikely that an ambulance will be sent due to the strain on the NHS and our managers and coaches will be left to get injured people to Hospitals and probably one outside of the area. (This was advised to the WFL through the local FA from the NHS).                                                                                                                          Anyone living in tier 4 has to stay in their own area and can't cross borders. We have coaches and managers who live in Herts and would not be able to come into the London Boroughs to coach. The 32 London Boroughs are one area. Herts is a stand alone area as is Essex and Cambridgeshire.  Due to our suspension of all activity please note that anyone injured playing in matches will not be insured.                                                                                                                                                                                                                     We understand that people will say that playing sport benefits the mental wellbeing of the young people however having read some of the emails on the WFL club forum there are a lot of Parents and Grandparents severely affected by Covid 19.  It will be far more harmful to a young person's wellbeing if at the end of this they have lost a parent due to the virus and especially if this happens through contracting the disease at training or a friendly football match.                                                                                                                              If we are given permission to start playing again by the end of January and the League Season is extended to the end of May there is every chance that we will be able to complete this Season. Training that we missed in the 3 weeks in November and for the next 2 weeks will be added onto the end of our agreements with our suppliers. We normally stop using astro at the end of March. These credits will be used throughout April and early May.                                                                                                                                           Stay safe until we meet again                                                                                                                                                                    Whetstone Wanderers Club Committee

MATCHES at the WOODSIDE PARK CLUB

NOTICE TO ALL MANAGERS, PARENTS & VISITORS

Please note that Dogs are not allowed at the Club and smoking and drinking alcohol is not permitted at the side of the pitch.

The Woodside Park Club is a private members' Club and parking on Sunday is only available for their members and for people attending private parties at the Club.  Whetstone Wandereres are associate members at the Club and we are allowed to use the facility if the rules are being enforced.

Please park outside on the street but take care not to obstruct the neighbours driveways.   It is essential that people do not park near the traffic islands as Southover is a bus route and we need to ensure that the buses and ambulances can get through.

Visitors should park about 5 minutes away and walk to the ground.   If we are not able to control parking outside the ground the authorities will limit the amount of matches which we are allowed to play at the Woodside Park Club.

Thank you for your co-operation.
